Woman receiving chiropractic care Are you having trouble sleeping at night?

Do you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night, or just not falling asleep at all?

Insomnia can wreak havoc on your health. It can put stress on your heart and even shave years off your life – if not taken care of.

Thankfully, the professionals at Duluth Chiropractic and Wellness Center can treat your insomnia in the most natural ways possible.

Here are 3 steps you can take towards better sleep health today, as well as how chiropractic care can help get you to sleep again.

3 Steps to Better Sleep Health

Here are 3 things to take into consideration when trying to get some sleep at night:

  • Power down early: Every electronic device emits blue-light, which affect your body’s circadian rhythm and tells your brain to wake up. Avoid using your phone at least 1-2 hours prior to bedtime.
  • Don’t eat too late – or too poorly: Eating right before bed wreaks havoc on the digestive system, and so does eating unhealthy or fatty foods. Eat a clean, healthy meal at least 2-3 hours before bedtime so your food has time to digest.
  • Turn the air down: Most people sleep better in colder environments. It promotes fewer wake-up calls and better R.E.M. cycles.

How Does Chiropractic Care Improve Your Insomnia?

Chiropractic care in the form of spinal manipulations promotes blood flow and better circulation in the nervous system to aid in proper sleep and insomnia. Manipulating the spine takes the pressure off the central nervous system, causing the brain and body to respond in anti-inflammatory manners.

Dr. Steven Sommer, D.C., has extensive knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and frequently administers chiropractic treatments such as spinal subluxations for sleep aid. He takes pride in offering both the cities of Duluth and Lawrenceville natural and non-invasive insomnia treatment.
